Saint Fulgencio and Saint Florentine are the patron saints of the diocese of Plasencia.Their mortal remains are found and are much venerated in the village of Berzocana in Extremadura. As well, there are a few holy relics of the saints to be found in the Monastery of El Escorial and in the Cathedral of Murcia.

The 3rd of October, 1610 marks the solemn occasion in which these sacred holy relics of the two saints were transferred to a splendid mausoleum built by the village of Berzocana.

The construction of this mausoleum was a very important event in the devotion and worship of the saints.

2010 marks the 400th anniversary of this important event. Due to the petition of the Archbishop of Plasencia, D. Amadeo Rodriguez Magro, the Vatican approved the celebration of the Jubilation Year to mark this event.

With this celebration we would hope that everyone learns the virtues of these saints., whose family also had four other sanctified brothers. As well, to proclaim “the family” as the privileged place to live the faith, to transmit it to the children and to strengthen the Christian life.
